Scheduling and Fees

Trained users may schedule time with Paul Carpenter. We use the LabArchives Scheduler program. Email Paul Carpenter for an invitation, then you can use the scheduler:

New users should be aware of the lab specific safety requirements and should have participated or taken the EHS lab safety training course offered online. In order to be trained on the instrument, users must sign that they have read and understand the lab specific safety sheet. Download a copy here. When you have read it, contact Paul Carpenter or Dr. Jolliff to make arrangements for a lab tour and to sign the blue book.

Dress Code in the lab:
Long pants and closed-toed shoes are a requirement in the lab (sandals are not acceptable). You may also want to bring a jacket or sweater with you, as it gets quite cold in the lab.

Notes:

  1. Operator assistance is added to basic instrument rate on as needed basis, determined by Carpenter
  2. Sample mounting and polishing to be provided by users or done at commercial facilities
  3. Sample processing includes carbon coating, mailing, and other requirements
  4. Minimum usage of microprobe is 4 hour block
  5. Mapping rate applied to automated beam/stage mapping runs
  6. Daily rate applied to more than 8 hours continuous use, billed in 24 hour days
  7. Rates effective Feb. 1, 2019; established in 2007 and adjusted in response to ~20% maintenance contract increase over 10+ year period
